Alternation takes its name from rows that alternate between visible and hidden cards. Seven columns of seven hold 49 cards; a 55-card stock supplies the rest.
Colors do not restrict tableau building
Build down by rank regardless of suit or color. Ordered descending rank sequences can move together, and any card or legal run may fill an empty column. Uncovering a hidden card turns it over. Eight foundations build upward by suit from ace through king.
Visibility changes after each released row
The stock draws one card at a time with no redeal. A legal run move can uncover a hidden card several rows deep, so check those routes before drawing. Mixed suits are movable here, but foundation progress still depends on reaching the next card of each particular suit.
